Position Summary

The City of Regina is seeking a Microsoft Support Specialist to provide expert technical support, system administration, and operational oversight within our evolving Microsoft environment. Reporting to the Microsoft Enterprise Strategist, this role is responsible for troubleshooting complex issues, maintaining system performance, ensuring licensing compliance, and contributing to the evaluation and implementation of Microsoft technologies. Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for escalated incidents related to Microsoft technologies, including O365, Azure, and Active Directory.
  • Administer Microsoft licenses, ensuring compliance and accurate reporting on usage.
  • Monitor system performance, perform patch management, and execute monthly maintenance tasks.
  • Generate regular reports on license usage, system health, and support metrics.
  • Implement procedures for seamless integration of new Microsoft solutions into the user environment.
  • Assist in evaluating and deploying new Microsoft technologies in alignment with business needs.
  • Collaborate with teams and vendors to resolve technical issues and support implementation efforts.
  • Share technical expertise, create knowledgebase articles, and contribute to team training and development.
  • Participate in Microsoft roadmap initiatives and lead testing for new deployments.
  • Ensure adherence to cybersecurity protocols and service level expectations.
  • Identify recurring issues, emerging trends, and recommend improvements to support services

Key Qualifications

  • Diploma in Computer Engineering Technology, or a degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant technical support experience, including 3 years supporting Microsoft M365 products
  • Hands-on experience in the administration and support of Microsoft environments
  • ITIL certification or experience in a service management framework is an asset
  • Microsoft certifications preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies including Office 365 (Teams, SharePoint, Exchange, OneDrive, OneNote), Azure, and Active Directory
  • Familiarity with Service Desk operations, methodologies, and tools in an ITIL-driven environment
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity best practices and threat prevention techniques
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to assess issues and recommend solutions
  • Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—with the ability to manage sensitive situations professionally
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to build effective relationships with users and vendors
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a high-performing team
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to conduct technical research

Working/Other Conditions

  • This position may be required to work irregular shifts and/or be on call 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.
