Position Summary
We’re seeking a skilled and collaborative Microsoft Solutions Specialist to help shape and support the City’s Microsoft technology environment. Reporting to the Microsoft Enterprise Strategist, you will deliver expert guidance, troubleshooting, and strategic planning to optimize Microsoft platforms city-wide. This role combines deep technical expertise with strong problem-solving and communication skills to deliver impactful, secure, and scalable solutions that align with business and strategic goals.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues within the Microsoft ecosystem (M365, Azure, etc.).
- Analyze, document, and optimize Microsoft-related processes, procedures, and configurations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design solutions that align with business objectives and technical standards.
- Support the execution of the City's Microsoft strategy, governance, and product roadmap.
- Provide insights from data analysis to drive operational improvements and efficiency.
- Monitor emerging Microsoft technologies and advise on adoption and implementation planning.
- Recommend licensing and feature deployment strategies based on current models and business needs.
- Lead or support the rollout of new features, improvements, and decommissioning efforts.
- Identify opportunities for automation, integration, and process enhancement
- Enhance user experience, system reliability, resilience, and security across Microsoft platforms.
- Deliver technical consultancy and guidance to internal teams and partners.
- Build relationships across departments and external organizations to share best practices.
- Contribute to performance reporting and ongoing improvement initiatives.
Key Qualifications
- University degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field combined with/or 5–8 years of progressive experience managing and supporting enterprise Microsoft environments and leading Microsoft-related projects.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft technologies including infrastructure, security, licensing, design, and troubleshooting.
- Microsoft certifications are an asset.
- Strong understanding of the Microsoft ecosystem and how its platforms integrate
- Knowledge of emerging tech trends, best practices, and challenges within Microsoft environments.
- Skilled in strategic planning, IT project management, and delivering innovative, data-driven solutions.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage priorities, and lead change in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrated leadership in guiding teams and managing workloads.
- Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and change management capabilities.
Working/Other Conditions
This position may be required to work irregular shifts and/or be on call 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.
