Position Summary
This position is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining effective marketing and branding strategies and activities. This position also coordinates special events, assists in sponsorships and advertising related projects. This position reports to the Manager, Marketing & Sponsorship.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement integrated marketing strategies that align with the City's vision, values, and priorities.
- Promote the City of Regina corporate and community brand to ensure brand consistency and integrity across all marketing initiatives and communications.
- Direct the development of materials such as logos, corporate messaging, ad copy, creative designs and other elements of the City’s marketing.
- Conduct research to support initiatives across multiple lines of business.
- Support special events and other corporate projects including leading internal and community working committees, coordinating of event logistics, providing onsite event support and overseeing event promotion.
- Evaluate strategies and plans to track progress and success on marketing initiatives.
- Work with Agency of Record on campaigns which includes attending meetings and presentations, developing media plans, developing ad creative, proofing and providing approvals.
- Oversee annual advertising calendar with campaign tracking; monitor performance of campaigns and review campaign reports.
- Work with the supplier of record to procure merchandise which includes clothing and promotional materials including approving corporate brand use on merchandise and managing corporate inventory.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate sponsors, advertisers, and partners. Draft and oversee sponsorship agreements and track sponsorship value and impact. Ensure sponsor benefits are delivered on and recognized according to agreements. Evaluate sponsorship outcomes and prepare performance reports.
- Perform related work as required.
Key Qualifications
- Typically, the knowledge, skills and abilities required are obtained through completion of a degree or diploma in marketing, communications or a similar discipline, and three (3) to five (5) years experience in marketing or communications environment, or an equitable combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of marketing or communications planning and the ability to effectively implement and evaluate marketing or communications plans.
- Knowledge of the principles and best practices of marketing, communications, public relations and event management.
- Ability to align plans and activities with organizational goals and objectives.
- Ability to express ideas effectively orally, in writing and through presentations.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team under demanding conditions in a changing environment.
- Skills in adapting diverse marketing and communications techniques to various situations and circumstances.
- Analytical skills to identify trends and challenges.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organization skills.
- Project management knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization and elected officials.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
- Demonstrates creativity and innovation.
