1. Job Purpose

Responsible to provide mail services including sorting and processing internal and external mail/packages, pick-ups and deliveries of mail/packages, as well as provide assistance to print services

2. Key Duties

  • Sorts and processes internal and external mail and packages
  • Picks up and delivers mail and packages according to route schedule as well as special pick-ups and deliveries
  • Operates and maintains mail inserter, scale and postage machines, and complies with Canada Post regulations
  • Operates folding and sorting machines and undertakes quality control for document inserts and envelope seals
  • Produces statement of mail and maintains record of registered mail
  • Retrieves package from loading dock as required
  • Prepares toner/printer cartridges for recycling pick up, contacts vendors, and delivers to loading dock
  • Performs daily vehicle safety circle check, records details in logbook, and books schedule maintenance and/or repairs
  • Performs daily upkeep and maintenance of vehicle, completes circle check, and logs information
  • Assists print services with activities such as binding, collating, laminating, stocking shelves and wrapping and shipping of printed materials

3. Education, Certification, and Experience

  • Completion of secondary school or equivalency
  • Driver’s Licence Class 5
  • Up to nine months of previous and on-the-job mailroom or shipper/receiver experience

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of mailroom, shipping and receiving, and customer/client services
  • Knowledge of methods, procedures, and operation of postage machines and related print services equipment
  • Knowledge of branch as well as the broader divisions/departments/branches
  • Knowledge of relevant collective agreements, bylaws, policies and procedures, and legislation, including health and safety standards
  • Knowledge of job-related office productivity software, internet browsers and search engines, enterprise software, discipline-specific software, and technology devices

4. Communication and Interpersonal Skills

  • Provides front-line customer service
  • Interacts with staff to exchange general information

  • Identifies issues, consults and follows policies, procedures, and processes
  • Prioritizes and adapts activities and routes in accordance with daily/weekly schedule within defined timelines/deadlines

  • Drives vehicle for daily deliveries
  • Sits, stands, and exerts force
  • Moves, stocks, lifts, loads, and carries objects/equipment/supplies/files

9. Concentration and Sensory Effort

  • Visual and concentration effort during sorting processing incoming and outgoing mail and affixing postage
  • Visual and concentration effort when driving for pick ups and deliveries
  • Auditory effort during customer services interactions
  • Auditory effort including diagnosis of equipment function/malfunction
  • Responds to interruptions to workflow that impact concentration demands

10. Working Environment

Annual Salary: $39,257.00 - $47,036.00
