Position Summary
As a Journeyperson Plumber Gasfitter, you will diagnose, repair, install and maintain plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems across City facilities. You will work independently, support safe and reliable building operations, and may supervise other trades when required. You will use your trade knowledge to plan work, interpret drawings and codes, and ensure all work meets safety and quality standards.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose and repair plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems in existing buildings.
- Operate, maintain and calibrate computerized and other control systems for HVAC in City facilities.
- Plan and install new plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems in new and existing facilities.
- Review building plans and specifications to determine layout and integration with other building systems.
- Prepare simple sketches and work plans for proposed construction or modifications.
- Estimate materials and costs, requisition supplies within policy and signing authority, and maintain parts inventory.
- Work in compliance with applicable codes and regulations including OH and S requirements, boiler and pressure vessel rules and the National Building Code.
- Obtain gas and boiler permits as required and ensure records are complete and accurate.
- Recommend subcontract work when appropriate and inspect subcontractor work for quality and conformance.
- Perform related duties as assigned to support safe, efficient facility operations.
Key Qualifications
- Journeyperson Certification in the Plumbing trade.
- At least two years of current journeyperson experience in building construction and maintenance.
- Knowledge of the Canadian Plumbing Code, National Building Code, CSA standards, Gas Protection Act and relevant City bylaws.
- Proven ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics and specifications and to plan and estimate work.
- Experience with DDC controllers and computerized building automation or other HVAC control systems.
- Strong safety knowledge including Provincial Occupational Health and Safety requirements and safe work practices for the trade.
- Solid communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work independently and to supervise other trades when required.
Working/Other Conditions
- Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 driver license.
- General Gas Fitter license.
- First Aid certificate.
- Will be required to obtain Cross Connection Control Specialist certificate after hire.
- May be required to work shifts and respond to call outs.
- Must provide a standard tool set for trade.

- Successful candidates may be required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check per the City of Regina's Criminal Record Check Policy.
- Proof of education is required.
