Position Summary
This position performs elementary technical work including database management, environmental sampling of groundwater, surface water, wastewater, compost, landfill gas and soil This position will assist in the delivery of environmental programs. This position is suitable for a recent graduate or an individual who is nearing completion of their studies. This position will report to the Coordinator, Environmental Compliance
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Enter and ensure quality of data and report on annual program activities
- Assist with sampling and analyses of groundwater monitoring wells, stormwater, wastewater and other soil/water sampling as required
- Monitor and track environmental data on spreadsheets.
- Technical assistance on projects related to waste management, landfill gas utilization and wastewater collection, as required. Tasks include preparation sampling equipment and data for reports.
- Review regulations/guidelines on solid waste management, wastewater and stormwater and research experience of other municipalities as required
- Research technologies for environmental control, as directed
- Assist with simple cost analyses of engineering projects and proposals
- Assist with development of safety and environmental procedures to ensure compliance with the legislation
- Following all rules and regulations as set out in the Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act and the City of Regina Occupation Health and Safety Manual.
- Applicants should be proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel.
Key Qualifications

- To perform effectively, the incumbent must be in the process of completing or have completed a minimum of a two-year diploma in Environmental Services or a diploma in Civil/Environmental Technology.
- This position is suitable for a recent graduate or a an individual who is nearing completion of their studies.
Working/Other Conditions
- Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license and have a vehicle available for work usage (a travel allowance is provided). Experience driving a half-ton truck would be beneficial.
- Must be able and willing to perform work of a physical nature in all types of field environments and inclement conditions
