Position Summary
The City of Regina’s Program Development and Delivery Branch is seeking Casual Labourers to support a summer pilot project installing locks on residential waste carts. This is a short-term, project-based opportunity focused primarily on hands-on installation work. Work will be based out of the Waste Management Centre (Fleet Street Landfill) and will involve physical labour, use of basic hand and power tools, and working in outdoor and industrial environments. Outside of this pilot project, there are very limited to no casual shifts available. Any additional work beyond the project would be occasional and strictly on an as-needed basis, with little to no ongoing casual work once the project is complete.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Install locks on waste carts using hand and power tools (e.g., drills) in accordance with safety and quality standards.
- Assist with preparing, handling, and transporting materials and equipment required for the project.
- Perform physical tasks including lifting, carrying, and positioning carts and materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Follow all applicable safety policies, procedures, and training requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Perform other related duties as assigned in support of the pilot project.
Key Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent is an asset.
- Comfortable performing hands-on, physical work in outdoor and field environments.
- Experience using basic tools or performing manual labour is an asset.
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely as part of a team.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
Working/Other Conditions
- Work is primarily project-based during the summer months.
- Hours may vary and could include weekdays, evenings, and weekends as required.
- Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must be willing to attend training as required.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful candidates may be required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check per the City of Regina's Criminal Record Check Policy.
- Proof of education is required.
- Additional assessments may be conducted to evaluate competencies, skills, and knowledge.
